Decision No. 2647/QD-BCT dated October 8, 2024 issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade approving the price framework for electricity imports from Laos to Vietnam, effective from December 31, 2025, includes the following main points:
(i) Electricity Price Framework:
- Maximum price for hydropower: 6.78 US cents/kWh.
- Maximum price for wind power: 6.4 US cents/kWh.
- The price framework applies to commercial power plants from December 31, 2025, to December 31, 2030.
(ii) Implementation:
- The Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN) and power generation units will negotiate electricity prices based on market principles, ensuring cost savings and competitiveness.
- EVN is responsible for reporting any significant changes in the pricing parameters to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
