FINAL REPORT: OFFSHORE WIND POWER ROADMAP IN VIETNAM

Offshore wind power is a new generation of green power with a history of development about 30 years inrecent years in some countries such as Denmark, Bristish, Germany, China, America. After COP26, Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) was established with the growing trend of offshore wind development in the world.

 

Vietnam, in emission reduction trend nowadays, has signed the Net-zero commitment, bringing the net emission reduction to zero in 2050. For this purpose, renewable energy development, especially offshore wind power development plays a very important role.

 

Enclosed below is “Final Report: Offshore wind power roadmap in Vietnam”. This Report is one of a series of offshore wind power roadmap studies commissioned by the World Bank under the Offshore Wind Power Development Program. In terms of content, it presents a strategic analysis of the potential for offshore wind power development  in Vietnam, considering both opportunities and challenges under different growth scenarios. The roadmap was made in order to provide information to assist Vietnam Government in developing policies, regulations, procedures and infrastructure to motivate the success of the offshore wind power industry.

 

The Report is devided into 22 contents, mainly focuses on these following ones:

1. Two offshore wind power growing scenarios in Vietnam, includes low growth scenario and the high one.

2. Vietnam’s offshore wind power roadmap and the author’s recommendations.

3. Key componenst for successful offshore wind power.

7. Supply chain analysis.
