BE CAREFUL TO PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR THE ONLINE PASSPORT SERVICE

To facilitate people in making passports, the Ministry of Public Security has implemented online passport making, allowing people to declare, apply online and receive passports at home. This is a solution to save time, costs and improve the efficiency of state management. However, some people have taken advantage of this regulation to profit or even defraud people wishing to apply for passports online through the service. Therefore, each individual needs to be very vigilant and careful when providing personal information to the online passport service.

BE CAREFUL TO PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR THE ONLINE PASSPORT SERVICE

In recent years, taking advantage of the fact that people have not understood the regulations on making passports online, many subjects have posted on social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo ... Introducing online passport making service. The subjects advertise benefits such as: No travel, no time spent queuing, being returned home ... at a price many times higher than the fee prescribed by the State.

Providing personal information to make an online passport, can be used by bad guys to use citizen identity images, personal information (phone number, genuine email, address, OTP code ...) to register to open a bank account, borrow money on online applications or steal online accounts in use such as bank accounts, Facebook, Zalo... The bad guys then use the stolen accounts to commit cyber scams against relatives, friends, and others.

Therefore, to prevent these risks, people need to pay attention to the following points when making a passport online:

- Only use the official websites of the Ministry of Public Security Online Public Service Portal to make online passports. Do not trust other websites, fanpages, groups or individuals to offer online passport services that are cheap, fast or can be done for difficult cases.

- Monitor the processing process and results of online passport issuance applications through the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security. Residents can look up the status of the application by phone number or confirmation code sent via phone message after submitting the application.

- Receive your passport at home via the public postal service or go directly to the immigration office upon notice. Double-check the information in the passport and sign the confirmation when it is received. In case of detecting errors, people should immediately report them to the authorities for timely resolution.

- Carefully check personal information when declaring an online passport application form. If there is doubt about the authenticity of a request or contact, citizens should contact the Immigration Department of the provincial police directly to verify.
